WE Boardroom Hosts Binoo Joseph, Chief Digital Officer at Cenomi Centers, for AI and Digital Transformation Discussion with SME Founders

Jul 14, 2026

Dubai, UAE | 11 July 2026 — WE Global Network hosted another edition of WE Boardroom, welcoming Binoo Joseph, Chief Digital Officer at Cenomi Centers, Saudi Arabia, for a closed-door discussion with women-led SME founders on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, leadership, and the future of business.

Held as part of WE Global Network's ongoing mission to bridge the gap between SMEs and corporates, the session provided founders with direct access to a senior corporate leader responsible for driving digital transformation at one of the Middle East's leading retail and lifestyle destination companies.

Bringing Global Digital Leadership to the Boardroom

As Chief Digital Officer of Cenomi Centers, Binoo Joseph leads the company's digital transformation strategy, customer experience initiatives, data-driven innovation, and technology ecosystem across one of Saudi Arabia's largest owners and operators of shopping malls and lifestyle destinations.

His impressive career spans more than two decades across global organisations, having previously held leadership positions with Emaar Properties, DAMAC Properties, Tesco Digital Ventures, Wipro, and several other multinational organisations. Having led transformation initiatives across retail, real estate, hospitality, technology, and customer experience, he brought a unique enterprise perspective to the room.

Rather than delivering a keynote presentation, the session followed the signature WE Boardroom format—an intimate, discussion-led conversation where founders could openly ask questions relevant to the challenges they are currently facing in their businesses.

AI: Threat or Opportunity?

One of the most engaging discussions centred around the rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence and its impact on businesses and careers.

Members openly discussed the growing concern that AI may replace jobs and disrupt traditional business models. Rather than focusing solely on the risks, Binoo encouraged participants to view AI as a strategic tool that can augment businesses, improve productivity, and create new opportunities for innovation.

The discussion explored how founders should prepare themselves and their teams for an AI-driven future by continuously learning, embracing change, and understanding where technology can create competitive advantages.

As technology continues to reshape industries, founders should focus on adaptability, innovation, and long-term planning. These principles align closely with our guide on what UAE SME owners should do now to remain competitive in today's evolving business environment.

For many members, the conversation shifted their perspective from asking "Will AI replace us?" to "How can we use AI to strengthen our businesses?"

Leadership in a Rapidly Changing World

The discussion naturally evolved into leadership and organisational growth.

Members were keen to understand what senior corporate leaders look for—not only when hiring people but also when building leadership teams capable of navigating constant change.

Topics discussed included:

  • Adaptability in uncertain environments
  • Curiosity and continuous learning
  • Accountability and ownership
  • Strong communication
  • Building teams that embrace innovation
  • Developing future leaders within organisations

The conversation reinforced that technical expertise alone is no longer enough. Businesses increasingly need leaders who can guide teams through transformation while maintaining a strong customer focus.

A Simple Framework for Evaluating Technology

One of the session's most memorable moments came when a member asked:

"If you were evaluating a new SaaS platform or technology for your organisation, what would you look at first?"

Rather than discussing technical specifications or product features, Binoo shared a refreshingly simple framework.

Before even considering a technology investment, he asks three questions:

1. Will this increase our revenue?

2. Will this reduce our operational costs?

3. Will this improve our customer experience—and ultimately customer retention?

His advice was clear.

If a product cannot demonstrate measurable value against at least one of these three outcomes, it may not be worth investing time evaluating further.

The framework resonated strongly with members, many of whom are constantly approached by software vendors, AI platforms and digital tools promising to transform their businesses.

Instead of chasing every new technology trend, founders were encouraged to evaluate solutions based on measurable business impact.

Digital Transformation Starts with Business Strategy

Another important takeaway was that digital transformation should never be driven simply by technology.

Technology should support a clearly defined business objective.

Whether the goal is increasing revenue, improving operational efficiency, strengthening customer relationships or enhancing internal processes, digital investments should always align with broader business strategy.

For SMEs operating with limited resources, this disciplined approach becomes even more important.

Bridging SMEs and Corporates Through Meaningful Dialogue

Every edition of WE Boardroom is built around one vision—to bridge the gap between SMEs and corporates by creating meaningful conversations between founders and senior decision-makers.

Rather than networking events or keynote presentations, WE Boardroom provides an environment where entrepreneurs can gain direct access to the thinking, experiences and perspectives of corporate leaders.  These discussions also provide founders with practical insights into how SMEs can reach corporate decision-makers in the UAE, helping them build stronger relationships with larger organisations.
